Kayla is a third year bachelor of arts, co-op student, majoring in communications in new media. She has extensive knowledge of marketing, advertising, professional and interpersonal communication, and social media networks as a tool for consumer engagement.
Kayla began her journey at TRU as a bachelor of science student with the hope of majoring in chemistry and going on to take UBCs pharmacy program. After a single semester at TRU, she decided that the sciences weren’t for her, and she applied for TRUs journalism and communication program. This was far more suited for Kayla, as she is a very outgoing, passionate and communicative individual.
In 2016, Kayla joined the Kamloops Ambassador Society as a candidate, and spent 6 vigorous months preparing for the inauguration ceremony and announcement of the 2017 Kamloops Ambassadors. During her candidacy, she learned many valuable skills such as:
- Public speaking
- Etiquette
- Car maintenance
- Dance
- Interview skills
After her time as a candidate, Kayla had the honour of continuing on as a 2017-2018 Kamloops Ambassador. During her time as an ambassador, she completed over 1000 volunteer hours at charitable events in Kamloops, as well as representing her city across BC.
